Mr. Shrestha is the Chairperson and one of the founder members of the Centre for Rural Technology, Nepal (CRT/N) established in August 1989. He is the former Executive Director of CRT/N and has more than 3 decades of experience in the development and promotion of renewable energy and appropriate/rural technologies and contributed his expertise towards the enhancement of rural livelihoods and sustainable development in Nepal through working with rural communities, government institutions, and international organizations. He has also worked with the Agricultural Development Bank of Nepal from 1970 till 1988. Mr. Shrestha is also one of the promoters of the Centre for Self-help Development (CSD) established in Nepal. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Rural and Agricultural Project Planning from the Institute of Social Studies (ISS), the Netherlands in 1980 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering from Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, Israel in 1968. He has also been granted an Overseas Fellow of the Economic Development Institute (EDI) of the World Bank in 1977.
