Muralikhola IWME (Improved Water Mill Electrification) Project located at Hupsikot -6, Nawalparasi was inaugu-
rated on 7th April 2017. The project was inaugurated by Mr. Peter Newsum, Country Director, SNV Nepal. The
power generation capacity of the project is 3.0 kW and providing electrification service to 45 households of Jaap-
danda village of Hupsikot – 6.
The project is being implemented by RETSC (Rural Energy and Technology Service Center) with financial support from SNV and EnDev/GIZ and technical support from Center for Rural Technology, Nepal (CRT/N) while . Himalayan Community D e v e l o p m e n t F o r u m (HICODEF), Nawalparasi provides the social support to
the project. Out of total cost Rs. 10,39,739.00, Rs. 5,72,677.00 was provided from IWME Programme as subsidy, the community of the village contributed Rs. 327,199.00 as cash equity and remaining amount Rs. 1,39,863.00 as kind contribution. After commissioning of the project, the local communities are getting benefit from electrification by achieving additional household works during extra time in evening period. School children felt more comfortable for their study in place of kerosene wicked lamps. Similarly the villagers were able to get news, information through
watching television. After completion and commissioning of IWME project, the micro-enterprise business activities were also initiated through establishment of poultry business and tailoring shops etc. The villagers also got additional benefit from the installation grain grinding facility at powerhouse which generates financial and employment generation opportunities through providing agro- processing services at their locality.
